One of the interesting features I came across in Windows 8 is that you can add a short video which was taken using your laptop/computers webcam as your account picture.
Open PC Settings
Click Account Picture
Use the Camera button to start the camera and go in to the video mode. Record the video. Upon finishing the video it will automatically apply the video as your account picture.
