Enable Hibernation in Windows 8

One of the coolest feature in Windows 8 is that it enables you to Hibernate your computer after enabling the Hyper-V feature.

One of the questions I get most of the time is that the hibernation option is missing from the power menu

and how do we get Hibernation option to the power menu

In order to do that,

  • Open Power Options

  • Click on “Choose what the power buttons do”

  • Click on “Change Settings that are currently unavailable”

  • Enable the Hibernate Option and Click Save Changes.

If you are unable to see Hibernate Option, Open Command prompt in Admin mode and type

Powercfg –H ON

  • Now you will be able to see the Hibernate option from the Power menu
